Cubico Sustainable Investments (Cubico), one of the world’s largest privately-owned renewable energy companies, proudly announces a significant milestone, having reached over 1 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy projects under development in Italy.
In addition to an operational portfolio of close to 50 projects with a total capacity exceeding 250 MW, Cubico’s development pipeline now comprises 28 projects, with several at an advanced stage. Spanning three different technologies — solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) — the broad geographical and technical footprint of Cubico’s projects underscores the company’s commitment to building a significant and diverse portfolio of clean energy assets throughout the country.
The first development projects are expected to reach Ready to Build (“RTB”) status in early 2025, a milestone which further reinforces Cubico’s position as a leading developer, operator, and long-term owner of renewable energy assets in Italy. Since entering the Italian development market in 2021, Cubico has established an in-house multidisciplinary team, leveraging our pre-existing local knowledge and global development experience to build the technical expertise required to successfully develop and manage projects. This approach has resulted in the development of projects which meet the highest technical and environmental standards whilst also contributing to Italy’s regional and national decarbonisation objectives.
Alessandro Asperti, Country Head for Italy, commented: “We’re incredibly proud of achieving this milestone in a relatively short space of time. Our success is testament to the expertise of our team and the strong partnerships we’ve built.
“We are committed to expanding our pipeline and team even further to achieve the ambitious development targets we have set ourselves, delivering clean energy projects that support Italy’s clean energy goals and bring significant benefits to local communities”.
