Cubico has secured a series of key permitting milestones across its Italian development portfolio, representing more than 280 MW of solar and wind capacity.

The approvals include multiple Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for six solar and wind projects, alongside securing Single Authorisation (Autorizzazione Unica) for two additional projects. Together, these milestones mark a significant step forward in progressing Cubico’s pipeline in Italy and reinforce the company’s long-term commitment to the market.

Strengthening momentum across Italy
The latest approvals span projects located across Italy, including Sicily and mainland regions such as Basilicata and Lazio, which play an important role in the country’s renewable energy growth due to their strong natural resource base.

The milestones achieved across the latter part of 2025 and into Q1 2026 demonstrate continued progress in advancing Cubico’s Italian development pipeline through a challenging and highly competitive permitting environment.

Supporting sustainable development through agrivoltaics
A defining feature of Cubico’s Italian portfolio is its growing emphasis on agrivoltaic development, integrating solar generation with ongoing agricultural use of land, including grazing and cultivation.

In partnership with local farming businesses, Cubico’s approach ensures that renewable energy generation can be delivered without displacing productive agricultural activity, while maintaining strong relationships with local stakeholders and communities.

As Italy continues to refine its policy framework and incentives for agrivoltaics, this approach is expected to play an increasingly important role in unlocking new sites and accelerating deployment. Cubico is embedding these principles across its solar pipeline.

Projects are also being developed with the potential for co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS), supporting grid resilience and the integration of renewable generation.

Delivering local value
Alongside permitting progress, Cubico continues to engage with local stakeholders and authorities to ensure projects deliver long-term regional benefits, including environmental mitigation measures, biodiversity initiatives and responsible land management.

These milestones reflect the significant effort and coordination of Cubico’s Italian team, working closely with colleagues across Development, Legal and Technical functions to progress projects through complex permitting processes.

Alessandro Asperti, Country Head for Italy and Greece, commented: “These latest approvals are an important step forward for our Italian portfolio and reflect the depth and quality of our development pipeline.

“Securing EIA approvals is a complex and demanding process, and this achievement is a testament to the dedication, technical capability and collaboration of our teams. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in reaching these milestones.

“We remain focused on progressing projects in a way that is aligned with local priorities and environmental considerations, while continuing to build a strong and deliverable pipeline in Italy.”

Looking ahead
Following these approvals, Cubico will continue to focus on progressing projects through the next stages of development, as part of its broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio and support Italy’s transition towards a more secure and domestically powered energy system.
